Bringing Families Into Our Fellowship

What would it feel like to be a refugee and leave everything? What would it feel like to feel unsafe?

  • for yourself
  • for your family

Most of us will never know or experience this reality. Learn about the two families we as Bow Valley Christian Church are sponsoring.

Our Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity to welcome these two Christian families to our church family and community.

What can we do?

  • Pray for their safety and perseverance.
  • Give your time: befriending, teaching, serving, organizing, volunteering and more.
  • Increase your awareness of the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters
  • Donate gifts & funds.

Our Need

We are in need of a place to store donated household furniture and goods until these two families arrive in Calgary. Are you able to donate long-term storage space in a climate-controlled environment?

We are in need of a core team member to manage the finances and do the required reporting as we collect funds in preparation and as we disburse funds upon arrival.

Do you have bookkeeping skills and like to manage finances?

FINANCES RAISED TO DATE

Update on our Goal

BVCC commits to supporting two families financially for a minimum of one year.

Our goal is to raise $80,000, this includes both families. As of October, we have raised $81,722.

We thank God for His provision and for your generosity.

Welcome to Calgary, Sidi Family

The Sidi family arrived in Calgary on December 2, 2021. A small group of Bow Valley family met them at the airport with banners, cheers, and waves. Though hugs were deferred because of COVID, tears of joy were shared.

The Sidi family has been experiencing many new things in Canada — new climate, new foods, new worship, new friendships. Attending to legal requirements has consumed many hours. But they have also had time for fun activities getting to know their new home, Calgary.

Continue to pray for their adjustment to life in Canada.

A, B, Z

This family is originally from Pakistan. He was always a follower and she converted from Islam to follow Jesus. Her parents are actively seeking the family to kill them because of her conversion. They have a 3-year old daughter.

Protecting their names and current location are critical for their safety.

World Refugee Day

Empathy Exercise

I have no idea what it is to be a refugee. Do you?

Most of us don’t, though a few do. We invite you to join in this empathy exercise to gain a bit of insight and appreciation for what our brothers and sisters, who are refugees, experience.
